Marthe Nso Abomo

Painter, from Cameroon

I am Cameroonese, from the department of Dja et Lobo (Sangmélima), and I am a member of the Boulous tribe. The Bamoun are my ancestors, they are also called the Bamilékés from the royal court of Ndjoya.

I am an autodidact. I had my first experience with painting in 1989, when I was working as a model at the Arts Academy in The Hague. Later on, I did practice by myself with professional advice. I get inspiration from stories that my father used to tell me, and pictures and scenes of my youth in Africa and my daily life in Europe.

My style of painting is simple and direct, resulting in a mixture of various blended shapes and decorative patterns
