Bayo Ogundele

Painter/Printmaker, from Nigeria

Bayo Ogundele was born at Oshogbo in 1949, started his Elementary School in 1956 and later proceeded to Secondary Schooling in 1965. Bayo was influenced by his cultural surroundings in Oshogbo which is a renowned city for leading men of the contemporary world in both Drama and Arts. He took an interest in the Arts while still in school. With an already acquired knowledge of ART, however, he went to further his studies by joining Late Prof. S.I Wangboje's Art Workshop between 1969 and 1971, at the then Institute of African Studies, University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University at the Ori-Olokun Cultural centre. Bayo also joined the University’s Drama group as an actor and participated in many plays both in Nigeria and Abroad. Bayo, a brother of Late Rufus Ogundele who was also a Painter, has his own art workshop in his Ife based home specializing in (OIL-PAINTING). He has participated in many group Exhibitions and One man Exhibitions in Nigeria, Germany, America, London and Australia.
