Mayakiri attended Ru Van Rossem's 1964 workshop in Oshogbo, Nigeria.  He was an actor with the Duro Ladipo Theater Company and later worked in the Music and Drama Departments of the Uiversity of Ife with Muraina Oyelami.  There have been many exhibitions of his  work throughout the world.
