"There are many symbols in the traditional woven and dyed cloth in our society, depending on the occasion. For example, a woven cloth is used to cover the bride, a baby at baptism, and for funeral rites; a dyed cloth is used for circumcision, a Peul marriage, etc. These textiles occupy a very important place in our society. The squares in this work symbolize all the different customs in our lives."
